A note from the English Department:
As the year begins, we are asking parents to take an active role as their children make their reading selections from our classrooms and school libraries. We know that not all of the selections will be a good fit for all students. Students need to select books that are consistent with their interests, values and reading levels. While we have many book titles at school for the students to choose, Georgetown Township Library is also a great resource.
We encourage you to be aware of your teen’s choices and initiate discussion with him or her as book selections are made throughout the year. In addition to providing reading time during class, we encourage students to read every night, so you should see your son or daughter with a book at home most nights and weekends. If you are concerned with a book your student has chosen for independent reading or book clubs, he or she is always welcome to choose a different title.
Finally, if you have any books your family has finished reading, we will gladly add them to our shelves! Please send donated books to school with your student.
We look forward to working together in this important endeavor of developing a lifelong love of reading and writing.
