August 2018 High Lites

J BRICK CREST

Welcome back students and staff!

We are excited to welcome our students and staff back into the building for the 2018-19 school year.  Personally, I’m looking forward to the building coming alive when our 1446 students enter the building on Tuesday, August 28th.  It is going to be a great year filled with many learning opportunities in and outside of the classroom.

Over the course of the school year we will be publishing our monthly information through this HighLites e-newsletter.  Please be sure to check the contents of this publication as it will contain valuable information pertinent to life at Jenison High School.

Best wishes to everyone as we start another school school!!

Geskus Picture Packets

Please be sure to bring your picture form with you to orientation, even if you do not plan to order pictures.  The information on the form will be used to keep the lines moving as you wait to have your ID pictures taken.

Information Release to US Military

In an effort to ensure compliancy with the Every Student Succeeds Act (“ESSA”), we are required to provide directory information for Junior and Senior students to the US Military.  If you do NOT want this information shared with the military, you must designate this on your “Annual Student Information Update” which will be emailed to you in the next few weeks.  It will be completed online.

 Food Resources

Food resources are available in Ottawa County, and it’s now easier than ever to find those resources online. Residents can search for food pantries and community meals, either by date or location, at ottawafood.org/findfood.

 Note to Parents:

The high school building closes every day at 4:00 p.m.  If your student does not have a specific “after school” activity, please be sure they catch the bus or that they are picked up no later than 4:00 p.m.   After 4:00 p.m., students will no longer have access to the office area or academic wings, they may be picked up at the atrium of the cafeteria.
